Surface Proximity Devices Controlled by Molecules
So far, most efforts for fabricating molecular electronics devices were focused on transport devices, i.e. transferring current through molecules. In my research, I will focus on a new concept for applying molecules properties to develop devices, where electrons need not pass through the molecules, and, their influence is not limited to an electrical one.
In particular, this is realized by:
- Wavefunctions overlap
- Exchange interactions
- a local plasmonic field
- Charge surface traps
The main platform for studying these effects is a novel device concept which uses a unique hybrid metal-semiconducting nanowire, developed in prof. Roie Yerushalmi group.
